Edward Williams Architects facilitates undergraduate education – with students from the University of Westminster

As Part of Edward Williams Architect’s ongoing support of design education we currently have two second year students from the University of Westminster shadowing Libby Blundell on site at Turnham Primary School.

As part of their Site Diary Portfolio Dominyka Kybartaite & Raluca Rimboaca are required to undertake a number of visits to a project under construction. From these visits they must demonstrate with a portfolio report that they understand the main concerns of a project on site, including the organisation of the project and design team, the architect and client relationship, the statutory framework specifically concerned with the planning process and any conditions outstanding, as well as identifying the main contractor and specialist sub-contractors.

It’s an exciting time at Turnham Primary School with the timber frame going up at pace, you can see the rooms taking shape. Dominyka and Raluca were talked through a current drawing set, to enable them to get a feel for the project, they attended a finishes meeting with the Head Teacher, where we presented the report and colour scheme for the first time.

They had a walk around the site with us, guided by John Medley, Lengard’s Site Manager and were able to ask contractor specific questions during this time.

We are sure the afternoon was informative and look forward to seeing them on site in again in a couple of weeks’ time.
