Laura Carrara-Cagni and Dino Merisi at the CLT Insulating and Airtightness Masterclass
The Insulating and Achieving Airtightness with Cross Laminated Timber Construction Masterclass at the Building Centre in London last Thursday was a day of in depth technical learning and discussions around the specifics of insulation in wood construction.
The topics included wood fiber thermal solution, airtightness and windtightness, to literally the screws specifics and ended with a live demonstration of a CLT panel being insulated with all its layers and finishes.
Among several talks we were able to see and touch several samples exhibited and were particularly impressed by a version of CLT where timber layers are fastened by timber dowels, with the total absence of glues.
Timber construction is one we are looking closely for some of our projects, as it is key to deliver sustainability, versatility, speed and quiet construction.
