Sustainable homes pilot project in Nairobi is nearing completion

The pilot phase of our sustainable homes’ development is approaching a key milestone. Construction is on track to be completed by the end of this month, marking a significant step forward in our commitment to providing eco-friendly and affordable housing solutions. We’re thrilled! And we look forward to receiving the new residents soon.

Recently, Edward travelled to Nairobi to assess progress firsthand. His visit confirmed that the construction is advancing smoothly, and that the innovative sustainability features are being successfully integrated into the homes. These energy-efficient designs include the use of locally sourced materials (mainly stone), and renewable energy solutions (including being ready for future solar power off grid solutions, and installed solar water heating) and full rainwater and grey water harvesting and re-use, all of which will contribute to minimising their environmental footprint and improving the quality of life for future residents.

The project has benefited greatly from local collaboration and partnerships, and we are confident that the lessons learned during this pilot will serve as a foundation for future developments. We look forward to sharing more details and officially presenting the completed homes at the end of this month.

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the final stages of this exciting initiative.
