CWenergy collaborated with our architecture practice to create a sustainable and elegant four-bedroom home by combining two existing flats in a period mansion block. This ambitious project prioritised energy efficiency and environmental sustainability while respecting the building’s historical character.

Our solution included a mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR) system, eliminating the need for gas heating. Paired with an air source heat pump, the system ensures fresh, filtered air circulates throughout the home while reducing energy consumption. Underfloor heating was installed in all new areas to provide uniform warmth while freeing up valuable wall space.

To enhance sustainability, we sourced eco-friendly materials such as cork flooring for the lower ground level and bamboo for the upper floors, combining aesthetics with durability. The project also featured a landscaped courtyard, patio, and terrace, creating multifunctional outdoor spaces that promote biodiversity and reduce hard surfaces. These spaces were completed with reclaimed York stone and vintage pots, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable and cost-effective solutions.

Additionally, the project incorporated an independently accessed lower-ground studio flat with its own energy-efficient design, providing a valuable source of rental income. This holistic approach transformed the property into a functional, future-ready family home that meets the highest standards of sustainability.
