Built in the 1990s on the slopes of the Andalusian countryside, the Finca is a compact villa in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by olive and almond groves.
The villa is five minutes drive from one of the famous “pueblos blancos”, the pretty white villages on the hills behind the Costa del Sol.
The two bedrooms villa is accessed by a private driveway and surrounded by terraces, with a private pool and sundeck, and a shaded roof terrace with wonderful views across the surrounding hills.
We have recently completed its extension by adding a large living/dining area and converting the original small living room into an additional bedroom.
A wide glazed entrance from the front courtyard leads into the new living space and, in sequence, the new enclosed courtyard from which the pool terrace is now directly accessible via a stair.
The long view from the entrance, through the house to the courtyard, links new and old spaces. White walls, characteristic of traditional Andaluz construction, reinforce the tranquillity of the spacious new living area and ensure a light, bright space, even during the winter months.
Finished in local dry stone wall construction the new extension blends in with the hill and its green roof connects with the adjoining slope, minimising its environmental impact. The use of exposed internal thermal mass minimises the effects of the hot summer days.
