The Leighton Road project is a refurbishment of a private terraced townhouse including basement extension and addition of an extra floor.

The main move to create a seamless space that led directly to the rear garden has been to open up the ground floor and end it with a wide glazing onto the garden. The rear ground floor extension and new garden steps were created to also double up as theatre seating for family plays and performances.

The family informal living area flows in continuity with the dining and kitchen area towards the garden. With an extensive use of wood finish for the floor and the kitchen cabinets on one side and the utility cabinets on the opposite side, that can be closed by sliding panels, the large space keeps its cozy family room feel that the client wanted. Under the stair a new guest powder room was added and the dining/kitchen area in new extension is lit by flat roof glass linear slots.

The roof extension was built to suit the style of the house extending the existing stair to access the new floor adding ample stair windows and an extra two bedrooms and bathroom on the new top floor.
