For the Offices in Paddington, London, CWenergy delivered a zero-carbon energy strategy that aligns with the client’s commitment to sustainability. This office refurbishment showcases how traditional materials and modern technology can work together to create a functional and environmentally conscious workspace.
Our energy plan centred on natural ventilation and optimising the building’s thermal mass. Exposed internal brickwork acts as a heat sink, naturally cooling the space during summer and retaining warmth in winter. The shallow building plan ensures excellent daylight penetration, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and further lowering energy use.
All gas utilities were replaced with a 100% renewable electricity supply. The project also featured an integrated photovoltaic system, which powers communal energy needs, including lighting and heating. Working with fire engineers, we developed a discreet fire safety solution, avoiding intrusive systems that would compromise the building’s aesthetic integrity.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful energy strategies can enhance both the functionality and sustainability of office spaces. The result is a flexible, timeless workplace that will serve the client’s needs for years to come.
